What is the age limit for Ragged Rascals?

The age range is from 0 -4.

Can I leave my child at Ragged Rascals whilst I go to the supermarket?

NO. The parents/carers/guardians are solely responsible for their children whilst they play at Ragged Rascals.

What time does the playgroup sessions start and finish?

At Abington Village Institute on Mondays the session starts from 09.30am - 12 noon.

At Great Shelford Rugby Club, Great Shelford on Thursdays the session starts from 10.00am - 12 noon.

Some playgroups I have been to have been extremely busy which has put me off going. Do you have a maximum number of children and parents?

Yes we have a limit on each of the sessions.

Abington the maximum number is 35.(parents and children around 70)

Great Shelford the maximum is 50. It will be a first come first basis. (parents and children around 100)

Are you open during half term/summer holidays?

Ragged Rascals are open throughout the half term holidays, summer holidays but are not open on the Bank Holiday Mondays. Please refer to the Sessions section for more information about opening times etc.

Is there car parking at Abington and Great Shelford?

Yes there is a car park at both the venues.

How much does it cost if I bring three children to a session, one of which is 3 months old and the other children are 1 and 3?

£3.50 for the first child, £2.50 for additional accompanying children, £1.50 for babies under 6 months old, unless they are accompanied by an older child, when entry is free.

Do you serve refreshments at the playgroup sessions?

Yes we sell all sorts of refreshments. Filter coffee, de-caf coffee, de-caff tea, tea, selection of herbal teas, hot chocolate, orange and apple juice and a selection of cakes.

What are your terms and conditions with regards to playing on the softplay area?

We ask everyone to remove their shoes before playing on the softplay area, however please keep your socks on. We also ask you not to eat or drink on the softplay area.

What sort of equipment do you have?

We have a range of softplay equipment, ranging from a bouncy castle, caterpillar tunnel, a tunnel labryinth, a ball pit and much more. Please view our Gallery to see what we have to offer.

I have just had a baby and would like to come to one of these sessions, but I am a little worried about the older children running around.

Yes Ragged Rascals has a baby section which is separate from the main softplay area, however we are currently developing this to make it bigger and to move it further away from the main toddler play area. Ragged Rascals has the right to ask older more boisterous children to leave this area if they feel they aren't being considerate to the babies/younger toddlers.

How safe and clean is the softplay equipment at Ragged Rascals?

All equipment is regularly checked for safety. Cleanliness is also very important to us which is why we clean the equipment on a weekly basis.

How safe is the Bouncy Castle at Ragged Rascals?

Our bouncy castle has been tested and the inflatable conforms with the safety criteria required by the Draft European Standard N496. You can check the equipment's test status by visiting www.pipa.org.uk and entering our TAG number 20617. Ragged Rascals are only to happy to show you the copy of the PIPA Inspection certificate (007092) if requested.

Under our Terms and Conditions, no more than 5 children to play on the bouncy castle at one time.

What happens if my child is naughty at one of these playgroup sessions?

If Ragged Rascals feels that any child misbehaves on any of the equipment putting themselves or others at risk then Ragged Rascals reserves the right to ask the child to take time out. A Ragged Rascals member of staff will be monitoring the behaviour of children on a regular basis, and if Ragged Rascals feel that any child misbehaves we will deal with the situation as quickly and efficiently as possible- although having said this, bad behaviour is rare at Ragged Rascals!

Can I bring my child if they are poorly?

Please use your discretion as to whether your child is well enough to attend the session. The following guidelines to indicate that the child should not be attending the playgroup

A fever over 38 degrees

Vomiting in the last 12 hours

Diarrhea in the last 24 hours

Anything that might be contagious i.e chicken pox etc
